GriefShare

 

If you have lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve discovered that few people really understand the deep hurt you feel.

Where do you turn for comfort and help?  Where do you find the tools to move forward?

 

GriefShare  is a Christ-centred, biblically based, special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them.  It’s a place to be around people who understand what you are feeling. The loss may be recent or it may have occurred some time ago and you still experience the pain of that loss.

 

At GriefShare,  you’ll learn valuable information about recovering from your grief and renewing your hope for the future.

Ministry of Worship

Worship Teams

Church Band

Music Teams is our contemporary music and singing group who lead worship on Sunday mornings at 10:00am. They practice on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. Contact the church office for further details.

Choir

The Church Choir enhances our morning services at 7:00am and 8:00am.

Technical Support Team

This group of volunteers operate the sound desk, recording equipment, multimedia equipment and our computers as well as do the cable work to set-up the music team. We are always on the look out for skilled volunteers.

Banner Team

We have numerous banners that are placed in the sanctuary to enhance our worship environment. Volunteers design and maintain the banners.

Communion Stewards

These stewards prepare the sacraments for our communion services.

Ministry of Mission

Bula Monyako

Open the door is the name of the organization that manages all our mission work. This umbrella body runs an ADVICE OFFICE which helps people find the solution to their problem by networking them to the correct person or organization. There is also a SECOND HAND SHOP that sells clothing and household objects to raise funds for the Bula Projects.

Some of the Bula Projects are:

Social Concern

Monthly food parcels are packed by an extremely dedicated team of volunteers and these parcels are delivered to needy pensioners in Benoni, Daveyton and Wattville.

HIV/Aids Counseling Project

Our Aids Counselling helps those who are Aids/HIV sufferers and the families affected. There is also an awareness campaign attached to the project to help people understand the challenges surrounding Aids/HIV sufferers and avoid the risk of contracting Aids. Our facilitator trains people from the disadvantaged communities to work informally in public places such as the taxis and trains, as well as home visits.

Careinn

Our Nursery School and After Care Centre offer professional childcare in a Christian environment. The schools 29-year history has seen hundreds of children benefit from this ministry, many of whom have been sponsored and have come from disadvantaged communities or circumstances. Harvest Feeding Scheme

A street ministry where a cup of soup and a slice of bread are shared with the homeless, together with a hand of friendship and prayer.


SAMVIM

SAMVIM is a volunteer organization that focuses mainly on building work. We have projects throughout Southern Africa and rely heavily on sponsorships and volunteers. These are many opportunities to get involved.

ZENZELE

ZENZELE is an ongoing project where we have twinned with a crèche in an informal settlement. Many of the children at the crèche are HIV/Aids infected or affected.

WATTVILE

WATTVILE is an ongoing project where we have networked with Eddy House Service Centre (Methodist home for the aged) and are involved with a crèche similar to Zenzele as well as a clinic which ministers to Senior citizens and Aids patients.

Community Trauma Centre.

Initially established in collaboration with the Emergency Service Chaplaincy, we have a trauma centre that offers assistance and counselling. Victims of Rape, Domestic Violence and Violent Crimes are among the people seen by the team.

Senior Citizens Socials

A Saturday afternoon outing held every few months for our senior citizens, which includes tea and entertainment.

Evangelism

There are three key projects:

KAIROS

This is a prison ministry. Volunteers train for a number of weeks to spend one weekend ministering to the residents of various prisons. The result, both in terms of conversation and rehabilitation are outstanding. Ongoing Bible study meetings are held in order to sustain the change residents have experienced on these weekends.

ALPHA

This is a practical introduction to the Christian Faith dealing with topics such as: Who is Jesus and why did He die?, How do I read the Bible?, Who is the Holy Spirit?, and many more. We offer this twelve-week course at least once a year.

 

HOME GROUPS

These are small groups where members care for and support one another and meet weekly in one another's homes. There is a special time of fellowship, praise and worship and Bible Study. Currently 75% of our congregation are involved in our Home Groups.

Sunday Services

Services to cater for different groups of people and the times for each service can be found on our services page.


Communion

We partake in Communion once a month on the first Sunday of the month for the morning services and on the third Sunday of the month for the evening service.


Water Baptism

Our church believes that there is One Faith, One Lord and One Baptism. Our practice of baptism includes the baptism of infants of Christian parents and the baptism of adults who have confessed their faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is administered appropriately for infants and by full immersion.

Weddings

Weddings are conducted for members in our sanctuary on request.


Funerals

Funerals are arranged and conducted by the minister.

 



Ministry Groups

Audio & Book Library

We encourage the reading of Christian material and taking into account the costs of books, we have the facility for our members to loan books and tapes. We also host a monthly book table on the first Sunday of every month.


Door Stewards

Our Hospitality Team will greet you at the door on Sundays, guide you to your seat if necessary and answer any queries you might have.


Flower Team

This talented team provide flowers for weddings, funerals and Sunday services.


Gardening

Our Church garden is a haven from the busyness of life and a visible expression of our vision to be an Oasis. There are many different ways to get involved in this ministry. Please contact the church office for details.


Cradle Roll

All the children who are baptised at Benoni Central are put onto a Cradle Roll, which means they receive a birthday card from the Church and an invitation to join our Children's Church.

Women's Ministry


Evening Woman's Fellowship

Interesting speakers, a nice cup of tea and good friends make for an enjoyable evening once a month.


Afternoon Woman's Fellowship

This friendly group meets once a month and the ladies enjoy listening to interesting guest speakers. The group are also involved in a number of outreach projects.


Men's Ministry

Fathers

This group meet every Friday morning at 5:45am to share and discuss various aspects of family life, educating and challenging men in their roles as fathers and husbands.


Men's Breakfast

Men meet together once a quarter for breakfast and enjoy listening to an inspirational speaker.

If you fall into the "young" category and you are looking for some excitement, contact the church office for information about the Youth ministries @ Benoni Central.

 

LIGHT

Young people, grade 8 and upwards, meet on Fridays at 7:00pm.

Confirmation

Our confirmation class starts in February for young people, 16 and older.


Kids Connection(Children's Church)

Caters for the little ones from three up to children in grade 7 and meets on Sundays at 10:00am.
