We believe that anointed teaching is the catalyst for transformation in individuals' lives in the church.

This includes the concept of teaching for life change - Romans 12:7, 2 Timothy 3:16, James 1:23-25.

We believe that lost people matter to God, and therefore should matter to the church.

This includes the concepts of relational evangelism and evangelism as a process - Luke 5:30-32, Luke 15, Matthew 18:14.

We believe that the church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure.

This includes the concepts of relating to our culture through our facility, printed materials, and programmes - 1 Corinthians 9:19-23.

We believe that Christ-followers should be doers of the word and yearn for continuous growth.

This includes the concepts of personal integrity, character, and wholeness - Ephesians 4:25-26 & 32, Hebrews 12:1, Philippians 1:6.

We believe that a church should operate as a unified community of servants stewarding their spiritual gifts.

This includes concepts of unity, servant hood, spiritual gifts, and ministry callings - 1 Corinthians 12 & 14, Romans 12, Ephesians 4 Psalm 133:1.

We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of the church.

This includes the concepts of love driven ministry, ministry accomplished in teams, and relationship building - 1 Corinthians 13, Nehemiah 3, Luke 10:1, 13:34-35.

We believe that life-change happens best in small groups.

This includes the concepts of discipleship, support, challenge and accountability - Luke 6:12-13, Acts 2:44-47.

We believe that excellence honours God and inspires people.

This includes the concepts of purposeful evaluation, review, open to change, and striving to do our best - Colossions 3:17, Malachi 1:6-14, Proverbs 27:17.

We believe that churches should be led by men and women with leadership gifts.

This includes the concepts of empowerment, servant leadership, strategic focus, and intention - Nehemiah 1 & 2, Romans 12:8, Acts 6:2-5.

We believe that the pursuit of full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer.

This includes the concepts of stewardship, servant hood, priesthood of all believers and the pursuit of kingdom goals - 1 Kings 11:4, Philippians 2:1-11, 2 Corinthians 8:7.

Purpose..

To bring people to Jesus and MEMBERSHIP in His family,
develop them to Christ like MATURITY,
to equip them for their MINISTRY in the church
and their life MISSION in the world,
in order to MAGNIFY God's name

A Church with a Purpose

The church is an organism, not an organisation (the Body of Christ).

In order for an organism to grow, a healthy environment needs to be created. We create this environment by balancing the purposes of the church that Jesus gave us in the following scriptures:

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart . . . soul . . . and mind.

This is the first and greatest commandment.

And the second is like it: love your neighbour as yourself. All the law and prophets hang on these two commandments."
Matthew 22:36-40

"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to do everything I have commanded you."
Matthew 28:19-20

From these two scriptures, we see that the purposes of the church are the following:

Evangelism (Go and make disciples . . .)
Worship (Love the Lord your God . . .)
Fellowship (. . . baptising them . . .)
Discipleship ( . . . teaching them . . .)
Ministry (. . . love your neighbour . . .)

Benoni Central has decided to take these instructions that Jesus gave us seriously, and hence, a church with a purpose. Our purpose is to be obedient to the call of God on our church. This is done by taking people on a journey from knowing Christ, to growing in Christ, to serving Christ, to sharing Christ, centred around worshipping Christ.
